Best Practices for Building a Strong Community
Be welcoming and open-minded
Others may not have the same experience level or skills as you. That doesn’t mean they don’t have good ideas to contribute. Be welcoming to new members and those getting started with Guild AI.
Respect others
Be civil and professional. Don’t post anything that is offensive, abusive, or hateful. Don’t harass anyone. Treat each others with dignity in all interactions.
When disagreeing with someone, focus on the substance of their ideas and ways to improve an outcome rather than merely expressing a contrary point of view. Avoid name-calling, personal attacks, and knee-jerk contradiction. If you don’t like someone’s tone, avoid the temptation to respond to the tone and instead focus on the underlying concern.
Be clear and stay on topic
When communicating with strangers on the Internet, it’s hard to convey or read tone. Sarcasm is frequently misunderstood. Use clear language and consider how it may be perceived by others.
Content posted in this Forum should provide relevant and appropriate information. Avoid content to simply drive traffic or attention to a site.
Off-topic comments are often distracting. If you want to share something that is off-topic, use the Random category to flag it as such.
To help maintain order and clarity in this Forum:
- Don’t knowingly start a topic in the wrong category. If you’re unsure of a category, use General.
- Don’t cross-post the same thing in multiple topics.
- Don’t post empty replies.
- Don’t merely “bump” a post. Reply when you have new and relevant information to share.
- Don’t knowingly divert a topic by changing it midstream. Create a new topic instead.
Respect privacy
Don’t share sensitive information. This includes system-specific details, credentials, other secrets, and email addresses. Sharing sensitive information creates security and privacy risks for the poster and others. If you need to share sensitive information, use alternative channels such as secure email, instant messaging, or private source code repositories.
Be honest
Don’t knowingly share incorrect information or intentionally mislead other Forum members.
What is not Allowed
Threats of violence
Don’t threaten violence toward others or use this Forum to organize, promote, or incite acts of violence. Consider how others may interpret your posted words, images, and links. If you intend something as a joke, it may not be received that way. If you suspect someone may view content as a threat or as promoting violence, don’t post it. In extraordinary cases, we may report threats of violence to law enforcement if we think there is a genuine risk of physical harm or a threat to public safety.
Hate speech and discrimination
Don’t post content that is intimidating, hostile, or demeaning or that stigmatizes or victimizes an individual or group.
Impersonation
Don’t impersonate another person by copying their avatar, posting content under their email address, or intentionally using a deceptively similar username.
Doxxing and invasion of privacy
Don’t post anyone’s personal information, such as phone numbers, private email addresses, physical addresses, credit card numbers, Social Security/National Identity numbers, or passwords. Depending on the context, such as in the case of intimidation or harassment, we may consider other information, such as photos or videos that were taken or distributed without the subject’s consent, to be an invasion of privacy, especially when such material presents a safety risk to the subject.
Prurient/Sexually explicit content
Don’t post pornography or gratuitously sexualized content. Not all nudity or sexual content is prohibited. We recognize that nudity or sexual content may be a part of your work or may be presented for educational or artistic purposes. If you have any questions or concerns about something you want to post, contact Forum staff to get feedback before posting.
Spam
Don’t post advertisements, link to spammy websites, or otherwise vandalize this Forum. This Forum is for Guild AI users to discuss projects, learn, and share ideas with one another. It is not for advertising or other spam-like content. Content that we deem spammy will be removed. Repeated posting of such material will result in account termination.
Copyrighted or illegal content
You are responsible for what you post. If you post something you didn’t create yourself, you must have the right to post it and comply with the terms of posting. Don’t post illegal content, including content illegal under copyright and trademark laws, links to illegal content, or methods for circumventing the law.
Active malware or exploits
Don’t use this platform for exploit delivery (e.g. posting malicious executables) or to attack infrastructure (e.g. organize denial of service attacks).
Other conduct which could reasonably be considered inappropriate in a professional setting
The Guild AI Forum is a professional space and should be treated as such.
